How to Set Up Email on a New Smartphone.

Tip:
Tap’ means quickly touch the screen with your fingertip, then lift it.

‘Swipe’ means place your fingertip on the screen, move it in one direction, then lift it.

1. Open Settings

Use your finger, swipe downwards from the top of the screen.

Find the Settings icon (looks like a gear) and tap it.

2. Add your email

Scroll down and tap Accounts (or Accounts & Sync).

Tap Add account.

Choose your email service from the list (Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, Proton, etc.).

If you don’t see it, tap Other.

3. Sign in

Type your full email address.

Type your password.

Tap Next and wait while the phone sets it up.

4. If it can’t sign in automatically

Bring the phone to the store where you bought it or to your mobile carrier’s store.

Input the login credentials (username and password) when directed by the mobile carrier’s assistance.

5. Open your email app

Find the Email or Gmail app on your home screen and tap it.

6. Send an email

Tap the Compose button (pencil or “+” sign).

In “To,” type the person’s email address.

In “Subject,” type what the email is about.

Tap in the big space and type your message.

Tap the Send button (paper airplane icon).

7. Check it sent

Go to “Sent” in your email app.

Your message should be at the top.

Done.
You’ve now set up email on your smartphone and confirmed it’s working.
From here, you can send and receive messages just like on a computer.
If you add multiple accounts, repeat these steps for each one.
